I Hate Love

Copyright 1993 G.J. Griffin

Now I don’t like mosquitoes, And I guess most people don’t
And I don’t like cheap dull knives that don’t cut right to the bone.
Now I’m not nuts about T.V., especially all the ads.
Just give me jeans and cowboy boots. I’m just not into fads.
I like a string tie. Normal ties are just too hot and tight,
And I don’t like waking early so I stay up late at night.
There’s a lot of things that I don’t like. I swear to God above.
The thing I like the least?
You guessed it!
I hate love.

Love makes you feel so cozy, all settled in your life.
Next thing you know some other Joe climbs onto your wife.
So off you go and find another, take her on a date.
She rips your heart out then she serves it to you on a plate.
This time I’ve learned my lesson well. I swear to God above
The thing I like the least ?
You guessed it !
I hate love.

You’d think I’d have it figured out and really know the score,
And learn from my mistakes having been down this road before.
But nope ! Some young gal smiles at me and off I go again.
If I were smart I’d keep my heart tied to a ball and chain.
This time I’ve learned my lesson well, I swear to God above.
The thing I like the least ?
You know it !
I hate love.

Heart a la carte … Pass the gravy … mmmmmm …
